Writers retreat, where the North Atlantic meets the waves of the Arctic Ocean …
About this retreat
A first ever tour will be offered this summer at Ytra Lón on Langanesi, discussing the poets who lived by the northernmost oceans. Where the Arctic ocean meets the North Atlantic waves.
You will get to know the area, gain insights into the lives of people who live in this remote, tough area and get a feel for for how people and nature in this area interact.
The goal is for you , to be able to think and write in unparalleled stillness and peace, and to acquire memories, life experiences and inspiration that you can draw on for years to come.
We cover Sóley from Hlíð, Örn Arnarson and Kristján from Djúpalæk.
Poets and creative writers from the surrounding area will also come to visit and talk about their poetry and writing.
There will be short walks and a trip to a white, sandy beach, sightseeing and historical tours around Langanes, Þistilfjörður and Bakkafjörður. And in selected places songs may be sung.
Aðalsteinn Ásberg Sigurðsson, author and musician, will cover the poets of the area in the church of Skeggjastaðir.
Space is limited, make sure you register soon!
